I'm not one to believe that gear makes you take better photos, but I would like to document my cameras in case I let them go.

I messaged the seller about returning it after deciding it wasn't worth the trouble but he told me that he had already spent the money I paid him on a new camera. He very generously offered to refund me 1/3 of the price to keep it, hence the final price of $389. An absolute steal compared to the prices of everything after the camera series went viral in 2022 and again after the X100VI came out. Over the years, the camera has stayed a little finicky; the front dial doesn't register turns unless it's turned at just the right angle, the power switch doesn't turn the camera on sometimes, the shutter button stopped firing completely for a week, which I solved with 95% alcohol and flooding the button before mashing it for 10 minutes (at the suggestion of a local camera repairshop).
To compensate for the camera's shutter button, I have it set always to manual focus but the front button triggers the autofocus and the back AEL/AFL button only locks exposure. I've done it this way so long that even though the button now works with a halfway press, I only use it to lock exposure and still use the weird front button focus, and when the AF fails, then I can quickly focus manually with the ring. It makes sense, I swear.
This is the camera I carry around always, wrapped in a navy vinyl wrap I bought from Ali Express because I couldn't find a company that makes wraps for anything older than the X100V.
99% of the time, I only ever put expired film into this camera because I just think $1 per shot is wild, but if I buy the expired bundles off B&H, it's only $0.60 per shot. >:] I did use soon-to-be-but-not-yet expired film to for my wedding though because that's definitely the time to splurge.
